Camp Registration

Each day at camp is unique in its daily rhythm, but all are focused around nature, play, community, creativity, exploration, and fun. Children will spend their days outdoors with qualified nature mentors building connections, discovering the natural world, and engaging in hands-on activities, games, nature art and adventures that encourage curiosity and confidence.

Camps are run over 1 or 2 days (depending on the chosen camp) at local parks and favourite spots in beautiful Mission.

Safety, Guidelines & Policy

  • At Into the Woods, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.

Spending time in nature comes with its own set of challenges, and we approach this with care, experience, and intention. We maintain a 1:8 adult-to-child ratio, and our leaders are First Aid certified, Forest School trained, and experienced in guiding children in outdoor environments. All staff have clear criminal record checks, and leaders never work alone.

We also engage in ongoing wildlife awareness and safety conversations—with both our team and the children—so that everyone feels prepared, confident, and supported.

  • At Into the Woods, we strive to create a welcoming, respectful, encouraging, and uplifting environment where children feel safe to express their ideas, emotions, and individuality.

We honour each child’s personal boundaries. Activities are often offered as invitations- although at times may encourage active group participation. Children are welcome to observe at any time, and are asked to remain within close proximity to the group so they can stay connected and safe.

  • To support a safe and positive group experience, children attending our programs should be able to participate independently and follow group safety guidelines.

There is plenty of space for free play, creativity, and personal choice throughout the day. At the same time, it is important that children are able to:

    • Listen to and follow leader guidance

    • Stay with the group (not run off or hide)

    • Gather when called, especially in case of emergency

At the beginning of each session, we co-create shared expectations together with the children to help everyone feel a sense of ownership and understanding.

  • Our community agreements are rooted in kindness, respect, and care for one another and the land.

We co-create this with the group at the beginning of each season.

    These include:

    • Kind and respectful language

    • Supporting one another

    • Respect for nature, tools, and shared spaces

    • Keeping each other safe & respecting personal boundaries

    • No rough, physical play

If a child is having difficulty following these agreements, we will first connect with parents to work together in support of the child. If needed, a parent may be asked to attend alongside their child. In rare cases where safety continues to be a concern, families may be asked to withdraw from the program. Please note that no refunds are provided in this situation.

  • If your child is feeling unwell, we kindly ask that they stay home.

    This includes:

    • Fever

    • Cough or excessive mucus

    • Vomiting or diarrhea

Children may return after being symptom-free for 48 hours.

If a child becomes unwell during the program, we will contact you for pickup. No refunds will be provided for missed class.

  • We ask that families arrive on time so we can enter the forest together as a group.

    • Please notify us if your child will be late or absent

    • Children must be signed in and out each day

    • Late pickups may result in a fee.

    • If someone else is picking up your child, please let us know in advance.

    • Access/information will only be denied when there is a written separation agreement or a legal court order

  • We embrace all seasons and weather, but safety always comes first.

In the case of extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances:

    • Families will be notified by 8:30am

    • We may adjust location or offer a make-up day when possible

Please be prepared for occasional cancellations, particularly in winter. Refunds are not provided for closures beyond our control.

  • In the event of an emergency:

    • First Aid will be administered immediately

    • Emergency services will be contacted if needed

    • The group will be safely supported by additional leaders

    • Parents will be notified as soon as possible

  • All camp registrations are final, and no refunds will be issued once payment is received.
